This period marked a crossroads in classic rock...you have bands on their way out (Small Faces, Troggs, Booker T & The MGs, The Equals) and bands on their way up (The Who, Pink Floyd, Joe Cocker, Fleetwood Mac). Many interesting things about these bands during this period. For instance, Pink Floyd had just canned Sid Barrett in April of this year. So this is a very early performance of Floyd with their new guitarist/singer, David Gilmour. It also marked the beginning of Waters assuming more of a songwriting role. The Equals featured Eddy Grant of "Electric Avenue" fame on guitar and vocals, sporting blonde hair too! A very cool band I never knew about it. Legendary singer/guitarist Steve Mariott of Small Faces, reportedly walked offstage during this performance, leaving the band for good. However, I didn't see it in this broadcast version. Last but not least, this is the "holy grail" for early Fleetwood Mac fans. Very rare footage of the band featuring their classic lineup. With only two albums under their belt, the Mac consisted of Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer and Peter Green (who was soon on his way out). There's more, but you get the idea... of the American/British rock acts who played this gig, it was a nice slice of classic rock history, preserved very nicely in this 2010 rebroadcast. *********************************************************
